Avs ink Yip for two yearsHockey Betting Lines07/07/2010 - Denver, CO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Brandon Yip to a two-year contract on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the club, but the Denver Post reports that it is worth $1.45 million for the duration. The 25-year-old finished his rookie campaign, stunted due to a hand injury suffered during a preseason game, with 11 goals and 19 points in 32 games for the Avs. An eighth-round pick of Colorado in the 2004 draft, Yip spent four years at Boston University from 2005-09, winning a national title in his senior season after scoring 20 goals with 43 points in 45 games. In addition, the Avs signed minor-league forward Ben Walter to a one-year deal.

Also, he could have some added motivation to put up big numbers this season with the Eagles using their first pick in the draft on McNabb’s future successor Kevin Kolb. Football Betting: Defensive Rookie of the Year AwardsOddsmakers have released the odds for the 2009 AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award and Seattle Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry has been made the opening favorite. Seattle took Curry with the fourth overall pick in April's NFL draft and plan on inserting him into its starting lineup right away. The Hawks traded linebacker Julian Peterson in the offseason, so Curry is expected to have a significant role in Seattle's defense next year and that's one of the primary reasons he is the favorite to win the NFL ROY Award.
