Bears and Aggies meet in Big 12 action
NCAA Basketball Betting Lines
02/06/2010 -
College Station, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Two teams jockeying for position among
the Big 12 elite collide in College Station this afternoon, as the 20th-ranked
Baylor Bears battle the Texas A&M Aggies at Reed Arena.
The Bears have won two straight games and three of their last four overall to
move to 4-3 in league play. After knocking off Big 12 powerhouse Texas last
weekend in overtime (80-77), Baylor followed up with Wednesday's 84-63 rout of
Iowa State.
The Aggies are in a similar position, as they have also won two straight
games. Last weekend, A&M posted an 85-70 win at home against Texas Tech,
followed by a 77-74 victory over Missouri on the road. The Aggies, who are 5-3
in conference play thus far, are a perfect 12-0 at home this year, and have
won 15 straight in College Station dating back to last season.
This is the 200th all-time meeting between these two longtime rivals, with
Texas A&M holding a 126-73 series advantage, thanks to wins in eight of the
last 10 meetings.
The Bears are sitting in the top-25 thanks to stellar play at the offensive
end of the floor this season. The team has had a great deal of success from a
consistency standpoint, knocking down a hefty 49.2 percent of its shots,
leading to 78.7 ppg. The strength of the unit is in the backcourt, where the
tandem of LaceDarius Dunn and Tweety Carter make it very difficult for the
opposition. Dunn ranks among the conference best in scoring at 18.5 ppg,
thanks in large part to his team-high 70 three-pointers and 41.2 percent
accuracy from long range. Carter is both a prolific scorer (17.1 ppg) and deft
distributor (106 assists) and provides the team with another three-point
specialist (40.5 percent). With Dunn and Carter bombing away from the
perimeter, Ekpe Udoh has a chance to dominate in the low post, something he
has obviously done on a regular basis, averaging a double-double with 13.9
points and 10.7 rebounds per outing. Dunn poured in 21 points to pace the
Bears in the win over Iowa State this week. Udoh followed with his 11th
double-double of the season (19 pts, 10 rebs), while Carter finished with 14
points and six assists.
The Aggies may not have the offensive firepower to win a shootout with Baylor,
but the team has been highly successful in limiting the opposition to just
65.4 ppg on the year, on only 41 percent shooting. Offensively, the team is
paced by veteran guard Donald Sloan. The 6-30 senior is connecting on 46.8
percent of his shots, leading to an impressive 18.4 ppg. Derrick Roland (10.5
ppg) is the only other double-digit threat on the roster, but he is shelved
for the season after suffering a broken leg in late December. Bryan Davis (9.8
ppg, 7.2 rpg) and B.J. Holmes (9.0 ppg) have stepped up their games,
respectively and provide the team with scoring depth. Texas A&M shot a
scorching 52 percent from the floor and ended Missouri's lengthy win streak in
Columbia, with a three-point victory. Sloan and David Loubeau led the way for
A&M with 17 points apiece. Kris Middleton followed with 16 points, and Holmes
added 10. Davis just missed a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds
for Texas A&M, which owned Missouri on the glass, outrebounding the Tigers,
44-26.

Stanley Cup betting
New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.
The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.
MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.
Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.
