Tomasulo leads suspended Mexico Open

Leon, Mexico (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Peter Tomasulo fired an eight-under 64 on
Thursday to take a one-shot lead during the first round of the suspended
Mexico Open.
Tomasulo had two eagles, six birdies and two bogeys on the 7,700-yard El
Bosque course and held a one-shot lead over Jamie Lovemark when play was
suspended due to darkness.
B.J. Staten and D.J. Brigman were tied for third place at six-under 66, while
Sal Spallone was another shot further back at 67.
The round was delayed for 85 minutes in the afternoon due to threatening
weather conditions. It resumed for about three hours before it became too dark
to continue.
Forty-four players will return to complete their rounds on Friday morning at
7:45 a.m. local time (8:45 a.m. ET), although it is unlikely anyone will catch
Tomasulo for the lead.
The nearest players were Colt Knost, Madalitso Muthiya and Ted Potter Jr., who
were all four-under par through 15 holes.
"Other than two missed clubs I'd say the day went pretty well," said Tomasulo,
who is chasing his second Nationwide Tour win and first in five years.
"There's a couple of holes out here where you think the ball will go farther
than it normally does or the other way around and that's what happened to me
on Nos. 7 and 9."
Those were the holes where Tomasulo made his only bogeys of the day -- but in
between he made an eagle at No. 8, his second eagle of the day.
"This is a course you can make a lot of birdies on, but you're going to make
mistakes too," said Tomasulo. "The greens are rolling nicely -- and they're
soft too -- so there's going to be some low scores."
Sitting about 6,800 feet above sea level, the El Bosque course is ripe for
attack as balls travel farther at the high altitude.
"It seems like you can score out here so I am just trying to make as many
birdies as possible," said Lovemark, who collected eight birdies and a bogey.
"I need to keep hitting the ball in the fairway and make my fair share of
putts."
