Hawks, Thunder collide at Ford Center

(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Two of the NBA's best young teams square off in Oklahoma
City Tuesday as the Thunder play host to the Atlanta Hawks.
The Thunder improved to 2-1 on a four-game homestand Sunday when All-Star
Kevin Durant made 16-of-21 shots from the field on his way to a season-high 45
points while pulling down 11 rebounds, as Oklahoma City held off the Golden State Warriors, 112-104, at the Ford Center.
The dynamic Durant has now scored at least 25 points in 21 straight games for
the Thunder.
Russell Westbrook added 28 points, eight assists, and five rebounds for
Oklahoma City, which got 14 points and seven rebounds apiece from Jeff Green
and Thabo Sefolosha.
"We made plays. Russell did a great job of getting everyone into the sets and
finding us good shots. They're a tough team," Durant said.
The Hawks, meanwhile, opened a brief two-game road trip by falling flat
against Southeast Division-rival Orlando on Saturday. Dwight Howard made 10-
of-16 shots from the field on his way to 31 points while pulling down 19
rebounds in that one, as the Magic used a strong second half to defeat
Atlanta, 104-86.
All-Star Joe Johnson ended with 19 points, seven assists, and six rebounds for
the Hawks, who had won four of five coming into Saturday. Jamal Crawford
finished with 19 points off the bench. Josh Smith and Mike Bibby added 16 and
10 points, respectively, in defeat.
"We just wanted to come out and try to be aggressive but we really didn't
shoot any free throws tonight," Johnson said. "We did not put any pressure on
their defense and pretty much let them do whatever they wanted. We didn't have
it."
The Thunder snapped a three-game skid to Atlanta with a 94-91 win in Dixie on
Jan. 18 and will be aiming for their first home-and-home season sweep of the
Hawks since the 2006-07 season when the franchise was based in Seattle.

El Duque expected to throw Tuesday
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez, sidelined at spring training because of arthritis in his neck, is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday.
Hernandez received a cortisone shot Thursday after leaving camp and returning to New York to have his neck examined. The 41-year-old right-hander is penciled in as the team's No. 2 starter behind Tom Glavine.
El Duque's health is a major issue for the Mets, who won the NL East in 2007 and came within one victory of the World Series. Their aging and unsettled rotation is a big question mark this year.
MySportsbook.com has the Mets as -110 favorites to repeat as NL East champions odds.
Hernandez went 11-11 with a 4.66 ERA last season, including 9-7 with a 4.09 ERA in 20 starts after the Mets acquired him from Arizona in late May. But he missed the playoffs because of a torn calf muscle.
New York already is without Pedro Martinez, out until at least midseason following rotator cuff surgery. Among those competing for starting jobs are prospects Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber and Jason Vargas, plus veterans Chan Ho Park, Jorge Sosa and Aaron Sele.
Notes: Mets manager Willie Randolph is excited about two new utility players he could have on his bench: Damion Easley and David Newhan. ''Their value is really all over the place,'' Randolph said. Easley can play anywhere in the infield and could be used as an emergency outfielder, though Randolph said he would prefer to keep the veteran in the infield. Newhan, meanwhile, can play second base, third or any outfield position for the Mets. ''I love versatility,'' Randolph said. ''I love guys that can give me options when I need them to step in.''
