Heat president Riley gets new contract

05/03/2010 -
Miami, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Miami Heat president Pat Riley reportedly
received a new contract that will keep him with the team going forward.
According to the Miami Herald, the length of the contract was not disclosed,
and Riley did not rule out returning to the bench to coach the team in the
future.
In addition, Riley stated in the report that he is "very confident" that the
Heat will re-sign impending free agent superstar Dwyane Wade.
The Hall of Fame head coach has been with the Heat since the 1995-96 season
and guided the team to its only championship during the 2005-06 campaign. He
is widely known for the "Showtime" Lakers of the 1980s, leading those teams to
four championships in a span of seven years.
Riley later went on to have a four-year coaching stint with the New York Knicks, winning the Eastern Conference in 1993-94 and coming within a game of
toppling the Houston Rockets for a championship.
He's 1,210-694 for his career during the regular season, although he hasn't
coached since the end of the 2007-08 season. Erik Spoelstra has been the head
coach since; the Heat finished 47-35 this season and lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.
